HOLDS OFFICER ELECTIONS
PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ, September 25, 2003-–The Independent Distributors of Electronics Association (IDEA), a non-profit trade association that represents the independent distributor market segment, recently appointed the following officers:
Nick Davis, a founding member of IDEA, has been elected to serve as President. Concurrently, he is President and CEO of Husky International Electronics, Inc. in Colorado, where he oversees the development of broker, stock sales and purchasing departments, development of marketing campaigns, and creation and maintenance of vendor and customer relationships. He also maintains direct control over quality management. Davis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in production and operations management from Colorado State University. He continued his education at CSU, earning a Master of Science in the same field.
Billy Pursley, also a founding IDEA member, has been elected to serve as Vice President of the association. He also serves as Vice President of Trading for Houston-based, Smith and Associates. In his 11-year tenure at Smith, Pursley has directed several business initiatives, including creating new business divisions and establishing Smith's European headquarters. As Vice President of Trading, he directs the company's global sales activities and strategic trading partnerships. Pursley earned his Bachelor of Arts in marketing from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston.
Homey Shorooghi has been elected to serve as Secretary/Treasurer of IDEA. Shorooghi has been involved in the semiconductor industry for the last 22 years. In 1987, he founded Advanced Silicon Technology, which merged in 1994 with MP systems to create Advanced MP Technology, of which he is now president. Shorooghi earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Southern California. He also earned an MBA in 1985 from USC.
Each of the officers will serve one-year terms. According to Nick Davis, IDEA president, “Independent distributors have truly come a long way. IDEA is now a functioning, viable entity and the future holds much promise. I look forward to the coming years and to working together with everyone to bring about changes for the good of the entire industry.”
